Congratulations
Floyd Norris
2006 - 2007 Volunteer of the Year

Floyd Norris was voted Volunteer of the Year in a secret ballot by his fellow volunteers from the past fiscal year. He was honored on April 27, 2007 during our annual volunteer celebration event..
It’s easy to understand what his peers saw in his effort. For the second year in a row, Floyd has taken a two week vacation to provide relief in the mountainous region of Uspanton, Guatemala. Few residents in this remote area have electricity or running water.
Floyd spends most of his time helping prepare for surgeries, setting up equipment, cleaning, cooking -- even getting into medical scrubs. He works up to 12 hour days & in one stretch his crew completed 80 surgeries in 5 days.
It’s the gratitude of the people he serves that stays with Floyd long after his return home. “They’ll sit in that waiting room all day & not complain,” he says.
Floyd was originally nominated by Jody Hawkins & Tom McConeghy as our February 2007 Volunteer of the Month. MACI is proud to make a $200 donation to HELPS International in Floyd’s name. HELPS is the organization Floyd volunteers through. They provide economic development, health, & education programs in Guatemala & other regions.
